Dualism of The Kent Bull
Who’s your role model? Regardless if
they are real or fantasy, who teaches you about the realism of life itself?
Jesus, Buddha, Homer, Bugs Bunny? Who displays great power within but must mask
that power in a world of weakness without compromise and a golden standard of
living.
Let’s take the few examples above, excluding
Bugs Bunny of course. Jesus, Buddha and Homer didn’t have to punch a
clock. All their needs seemed to be met.
But that was for a reason, because each of them, like many others, are teachers
to help us navigate through the greatest labyrinth ever created…THE HUMAN
PSYCHE. So practically their lifestyle
isn’t a complete way of show us how to live in this world, with skinned knees,
dog bites and car wrecks. While we are
trying to solve the riddle of Love Thy
Neighbor as you love THYSELF, rent still has to be paid and wounds still
need mending.
So I ask the question again, who is
your role model? Who teaches you to function in this world while trying to find
the golden threads to get you out your own mental maze and save others?
Any story that is formed from the mind
of man or the Labyrinth of Life has left behind a trace to a ton of symbolism,
regardless if they intended it or not. Since I’m using Mazes let’s look at the
below myth as a starting point towards an answer.
There
was a great inventor named Daedalus, a.k.a. Corrupted Necessity. He served King
Minos, a.k.a. King Hubris. The story actually starts with the measures Minos
takes to become the King. Desperate to
become king, Minos made a pact with Poseidon a.k.a. Cause. This pact was to
ensure his place on the throne. Side
bar: Poseidon is the God of the Sea and a sea represent the state of mankind as
a whole a.k.a. Society. So basically King Minos pimped a.k.a. Manipulated the
system to become King. By false promises and trickery. (The Politician’s Creed)
The
Pact forged between Poseidon and Minos produced the legendary White Bull from
the sea, which had to be sacrificed AFTER Minos becomes king. So let’s continue to breakdown some symbols in
this part. Starting with Sacrifice, which is the giving up something that usually
hurts (burns) to release. There is no such thing as a sacrifice without the hurting release. I could have a blog on that alone, starting with
Cain and Abel. [Mental note to write that blog].
A
Bull symbolizes stubbornness,
strong will, strength, and power. There’s no accident that this is a
bull and not some other kind of animal. A
white bull symbolizes
glad tidings and profits.
Good
Tidings – Tidings is an old-fashioned word for recent news. If someone says
"I bring you good tidings!" it means they have information to share that you'll probably like.
Even though this word appears to be related to tide, the word “tidings” is actually
thought to come from the Old English word tidan, which means “to happen”.
(Google Search on Good Tidings).
Let’s
break it down so far. Because of Minos’ stubbornness, strong will, strength and
power, he was giving some good news to share that would surely put him on the
throne, however the cost was to let go of something that would hurt, which I
believe was his pride. Key point, Minos possessed strong will, strength, and power. Can you imagine those same attributes
without pride getting in the way? What a great king he could’ve been. As with
many of our own world leaders that possess those same attributes.
Let’s continue. This White Bull came from the
sea, that’s the Tell Tale sign of his society’s cry through their gathered
emotional state. Minos KNOWING the needs of the people could not…or WOULD NOT
let go of his own selfish pride, hence trickery and the keeping of the White
Bull from the sea, as some form of trophy to reflect his own self greatness.
Next character in our story is Minos’ wife,
Pasiphae a.k.a. Cretin. Side bar, I can’t help but to think of the words
Passive and pacify, with the name Pasiphae. Which helps the development of her
character traits? I see her as a passive fool. Most likely Passive Aggressive Fool.
Com’on think about it. What kind of wives do Prideful strong-willed men of
power have? They have trophy wives. Side bar: I had this middle-aged friend of
mine, who was dating this nag of a
woman. She was always underappreciated and needed a lot of emotional praising.
I happened to be present during one of their MANY arguments, where he yelled, you
must have been really pretty when you were young, because you are too high
maintenance.” That statement stayed with me, because I had family members that
were FINE as young women that were PROS at being Passive Aggressive.
Because of Poseidon a.k.a. CAUSE, Queen Pasiphae became obsessed with the White Bull, which is now a Trophy of Manipulation of the
People’s cry. WHOA…a Passive Aggressive person in love with the manipulation of
the people’s cry. That is the perfect
By Proxy Disease scenario. And the only thing that can be birth by such a union
is a Beast. It’s a mutated half human creature that can’t be nursed or controlled.
And becomes a true predator themselves. Hence their society’s beast of burden the
Minotaur.
The Hubris King a.k.a.
Minos was more the beast’s father
than the White Bull itself. Ironically, even Minos himself, couldn’t destroy or
control the Minotaur. Therefore he demanded Daedalus (Corrupt Necessity) to
build a labyrinth that the Minotaur could not escape from a.k.a. Oppression through the maze of illusion.
The Minotaur is the product of Pride,
Trickery, Corruption and Foolishness.
Side Bar: When I think of the Minotaur I think
of people who are actually missing a chunk out of their soul. The Nazis, The
KKK, Terrorist, Serial Killers, Rapist, Pedophiles and Human traffickers. They
are Human Hybrids. Predator Beast that cannot be nursed or controlled.
Per TedEd, The Scientific Origins of the Minotaur video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aoIs-5zqoI)
shares how the original Minotaur myth never truly described how the Minotaur looked
physical.
This story does have its sacrifices, but not the one needed
one from King Minos. It was the
sacrifice of innocence. Seven virgin males and seven virgin females, which is a
heck of a metaphor for society’s youths. Not to mention it’s one of the rare
stories where males were also
sacrifice, which is a major sign post in my opinion. This whole story of the Minotaur is either a
repeated cycles we fail to correct in our societies or it’s the same cycle that
has snowballed into this massive glob of insurrection turned inward.
The story isn’t over yet, here is where my story comes full
circle and I take you back the original question, of Role Model. Before I do, I
want to point out that the Myth of the Minotaur is a, “As Above So below” type
of story. Being it has depth on multiple levels. It can symbolize the world
around us; however it can also symbolize the world within us. We all play one
or more characters in this tale. Hubris, Foolishness and Darkness. As mentioned above we are oppressed within
the strongest Labyrinth ever known…our psyche.
Usually oppression programs us to believe we are not
powerful. Through this reprogramming of weakness, we can’t see the keys of our
release that is placed right there in front of us. Let’s go back to the myth
for a moment. Couldn’t the Minotaur follow the scent of Innocent all the way
back to the entrance? Why did the Innocent and the Minotaur go so deep into the
labyrinth, just to get lost in the first place? Trickery, that’s how! The only
way to get an uncontrolled beast lost is by trickery and it’s kept there by
illusion. The same with the Innocent; trickery followed by illusion then
destruction.
Theseus is the hero of the story. Through his own trickery
brought to him by love, has a failsafe to withstand the seductive trickery of
being lost within the Labyrinth and destroying the Minotaur. Side bar: Notice
Theseus name is These Us. That’s worth meditating on. These is plural for the word This.
Us a.k.a.
We is plural for
Me. This me
Theseus is you and me; it’s Us through you or Us through me.
So let’s call Theseus…ThisMe. And who is this me. It’s a hint to overcoming the
trickery of the Labyrinth. Side bar: There is an energy behind words. Let’s
look at the word Labyrinth itself. Personally, laby combines the word Lady and
baby. Or Lad and Baby. This is my own meditation of this word, which ties to
sacrifice to me. Let’s get to the actual meaning. I googled Laby, which is a
girl names and variation of the Hebrew name Libi, which means…wait for it…my heart. https://www.babynamespedia.com/meaning/Libi
This
is where things get very interesting. I googled Rinth, as in labyrinth,
and was blown away. Rinth is something that is extremely complicated
or difficult to understand. WHOA!!!! Labyrinth=my heart is
extremely complicated or difficult to understand. This puts the exclamation
point at the end of Labyrinth! I Love it.
Notice
that the rinth definition has an OR in it. The word OR is a conjunction, like AND
and BUT. Or is a choice, i.e. Coffee OR Tea. So I’m going to choose the latter.
Labyrinth=My heart is difficult to understand. I don’t think it’s as
complicated as one may think. It’s more of a lack of understanding.
Jesus,
Buddha and Homer tried to give us understanding into ourselves. However many of
us can only see the walls of the labyrinth and not the deductive reasoning
above the illusion blocking the ThisMe. This is where we need the influence of
man’s story to see the symbols pointing to the very thread that loops around
the walls of understanding to find our way out of the labyrinth a.k.a. the
misunderstand of our hearts. First step we have to tie our thread to something
of pure love. That’s the golden thread, which illuminates our way. There’s
another step that allows us to see the lumens of the thread in the first place.
That’s the role model. The practical means to navigate through the skinned
knees and dog bites. It’s the realization that you are a very powerful being
with great strength.
The
powerful pull of your greatest weakness is the force tied to your biggest
strength. You are a superhero. Unfortunately,
an oppressed superhero is imprisoned slave. The stronger you are the stronger
your bars and shackles.
Does
the name Jerome Siegel ring a bell? He was a man born October 17th,
1914. Three hundred and twenty-eight years earlier on October 17th,
1586 an English poet and diplomat
named Philip Sidney who was born in Kent England died at the ripe
old age of not-quite-thirty-two. He was written about by an author named Alan
Stewart titled: Philip Sidney: A Double Life, which talked about the
dualism of Sir Sidney’s life as a staunch politician and poet. Here’s a link to
the book summary on Good Reads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4827676-philip-sidney
The
reason for this insert is because of the dual nature within these consequential
dates between Siegel and Sidney, which I just happened upon. Jerome Siegel the
writer/creator of Superman. Superman is the fictional character with dual
personas that is significant in this blog. Sidney played a very significant
role involving abuse of power etc. Obviously Sir Sidney was a man who saw the
effects of abusive power in leadership. His poetry reflected that.
Here
lies our role model. Siegel’s Clark Kent. Have you realize that Superman is the
alter ego of Clark Kent and not the other way around. Sir
Sidney of Kent is the Poet and not
the politician. Clark Kent is the journalist (herald) and not the
superhero. The politician and the
superhero are just one part of a much bigger whole.
Clark
Kent is out proper role model in today’s society. We are all heralding superheroes.
Trust me, we truly are. We have great power. We are not the bullet in the gun,
but the Gunpowder aka Black powder, that can be used in the weapon or light the
skies with fireworks. This is the reason for the oppression. Power like ours can
be easily manipulated as Minos did.
Live
your life as Clark Kent, a moral man who knows his strength and uses it under a
secret guise. He can’t save everyone by leaping tall building in a single
bound, but he can save many with the power of his pen. Your recognition and acceptance of who you
are coupled with a moral compass can finally sacrifice the Trophy of the White
Bull as it was meant to be. Know your weaknesses it’s a sign post to your
strength. Know your dislikes, because the hatred of others is recognition of
hatred within us.
For
Godsakes…STOP CRYING for a savior or a leader to ease your pain, because that
pain will only be manipulated. That Pain powers The Bullets--GET IT!
You can NOT put your
fate in man. You can only truly save yourself and when you save yourself you in
turn save mankind.
You
and me are Theseus…THESE US…THIS US…THIS ME.
Theseus-Hero
Clark Kent-This Me
